Martha Rosalía Ruiz González

She is a talented artisan from Teotitlán del Valle, a community known for its rich textile tradition. She has dedicated part of her life to the art of weaving and preserving this tradition. With skill and dedication she crafts rugs, bags, tlacoyales and wool cushions, using materials that are in harmony with nature. Her pieces combine ancestral techniques, reflecting Zapotec heritage through natural colors extracted from cochineal, indigo, marush, and pomegranate, which she obtains from plants and trees found in the same community and which she also cultivates. Beyond her art, she seeks to pass on a heritage of wisdom to her children, ensuring that future generations not only preserve this knowledge but also develop a deep love for the art and textile culture of her people.
